Ik ben Dirk van Veldhoven, geboren in 1962 en woonachtig in Berlicum. Van jongs af aan heb ik altijd veel getekend en vanaf ongeveer mijn zeventiende ben ik begonnen met schilderen. Ik heb mijn techniek zelf ontwikkeld en nooit een opleiding gevolgd. Stilistisch beweeg ik mij tussen post-impressionisme en (magisch) realisme. Mijn onderwerpen zijn mensen en landschappen, zowel naar werkelijkheid als gefingeerd. Soms wordt het beeld bedachtzaam in verschillende lagen opgebouwd en soms wordt het met forse penseelstreken snel en rauw op het doek gezet. Elk schilderij vraagt om zijn eigen benadering en vaak ontdek ik tijdens het schilderen wat de zeggingskracht van het werk is. Exposities: DOCK 5340 in Den Bosch (2 x), Gallery Smashing Colors in Goirle, Den Durpsherd in Berlicum, de protestantse kerk in Sint-Michielsgestel en Perron 3 in Rosmalen.
My name is Dirk van Veldhoven, I was born in 1962 and am living in Berlicum (the Netherlands). From an early age I was always drawing and I started painting when I was seventeen. I developed my own technique and never had any lessons. Stylistically I move between post-impressionism and (magical) realism. My subjects are people and landscapes, both real and fictitious. Sometimes the image is thoughtfully built up in different layers and sometimes it is quickly and rawly placed on the canvas with strong brush strokes. Each painting requires its own approach and it's often during the creation process that I discover what it's about. I have exhibited at DOCK 5340 in Den Bosch (2 x), Gallery Smashing Colors in Goirle, Den Durpsherd in Berlicum, the protestant church in Sint-Michielsgestel and Perron 3 in Rosmalen (all in the Netherlands).
